Hana-Kimi vol 4-6 by Hisaya Nakajo

                 About:

It looks like Mizuki's cover might be blown when she finds out she's going to have to compete...in a cross-dressing match. She's going to have to be a boy pretending to be a girl, but that might give away that she's already a girl pretending pretending to be a boy. Plus, a schoolmate has a crush on Mizuki...only he's super confused because he thinks she's a boy!

My Review:

I really like this series a lot. It's fun, creative, and just funny. I was so disappointed when I finished reading it. I liked this volume a lot more than the first one. It was so much more interesting. I ad so much fun and I can't believe some of the back stories we learn in this this volume. If you've read the first volume then you'll love this one. I mean I hope it just gets better from here.

In this volume, Mizuki is hounded by a reporter obsessed with Sano, has to dress up as a girl for a competition, deal with her classmate's crush, and her best friend moving to Japan. We also get to see a little of Mizuki's past when she was thirteen. I thought it was such a cute story. It was just so sweet too. I wish I had a story like that. We also get to see a little of Nanba's past too! I thought that was interesting as well since we don't get to see much of his character. This volume definitely had much more interesting stuff than the first volume.

Mizuki is so cute in this volume and so determined. She does her best to help her dorm win the school competition. I loved what the Golden prize was. It was really funny. I thought she was really cute when she was jealous of the reporter who knew so much about Sano. I mean it was just so adorable. The reporter was so nosy. I'm glad Sano was there to help out Mizuki. Sano was so strong and dependable for Mizuki. He was there for whenever she was in trouble. I also loved the moments where he was thinking about his feelings for her. Oh and I also loved their cute little sweet moments with each other. There weren't many but I guess that was the beauty of it. I absolutely without a doubt loved doctor Umeda! He's just so sarcastic and full of awesomeness. I especially loved the scene with his sister Io and Mizuki in the beginning. It was just so funny and entertaining. Just their interactions as a family is just so hilarious. I also loved the charm Umeda gave Mizuki to ward away the reporter. Now that I've thought about it, Umeda never mentioned what he did to that reporter in college to make her want to run away every time she sees him. He probably did something naughty given the charm he gave to Mizuki. Nakatsu was just so funny with his jealousy over Mizuki's friend Julia thinking they were lovers and then it didn't help when Julia lies and said they were. Julia was just so weird but she seems like an awesome friend. I don't know how I feel about her becoming a more important character though. I don't know why. I guess I just like things the way they are.

The art again is pretty good. I still don't like the lips on the cover though. I mean they are not attractive at all. I still love how Umeda looks. He just looks so cool and his looks just fit his personality so well. I don't know how to properly describe it. I also loved how Sano looked dressed as a woman for the competition. He was so pretty. Mizuki was cute as well in her Alice costume. I liked the plot in this book. It was so much more interesting and we get a lot of back story this time which was awesome.

Overall, I thought this volume was better than the first so if you're not sure of reading this one after the first then don't worry about it. I really feel that the series will just keep on getting better and better. I love the characters. They are just so full of life and just plain good funny. I can't get enough of them(especially Umeda) and look forward to what they are going to do next. If you still haven't tried out this series you definitely should.
