I love Love Stage!! I saw the anime fistr and couldn't get enough of it. The manga is just as good and I love the fact that it also continues after the anime so we get more story time with the characters. This is a really good pick if you love yoai/boys love or always wanted to check it out but didn't know where to start. This was my first boy's love anime and my gateway drug for it so I highly recommend it.

Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson

                    About:

It was Sloane who yanked Emily out of her shell and made life 100% interesting. But right before what should have been the most epic summer, Sloane just...disappears. All she leaves behind is a to-do list. On it, thirteen Sloane-inspired tasks that Emily would normally never try. But what if they could bring her best friend back?

Apple picking at night? Okay, easy enough.

Dance until dawn? Sure. Why not?

Kiss a stranger? Um...

Emily now has this unexpected summer, and the help of Frank Porter (totally unexpected), to check things off Sloane's list. Who knows what she'll find?

Go skinny-dipping? Wait...what?

My Review:

I loved this book so much. I've only read one other book by Morgan Matson and I didn't like it very much so I was so happy to find something of hers that I really enjoyed. I read this book in one sitting. I didn't want to stop reading. I loved that I could easily connect with the characters. This was a fun book to read. It's fabulous for the summer since it also takes place during the summer as well.

This book is about Emily, who is very shy and socially awkward. She got around that through her friend Sloane. When Sloane disappears, Emily panics. When she finds the list Sloane gave her she sets out to complete the list hoping that in doing so she will find her. Along the way of this incredible journey Emily makes new friends and gains many experiences.

I loved Emily simply because she's a lot like me. I'm really shy and it takes a while to get me out of my shell. If I'm not comfortable then I'm not the greatest social person. Though I can get myself through if I have to. Emily is really shy and stumbles through conversation. She would rather hang out alone with Sloane than with other people. She attached herself to Sloane. Sloane was her rock and life saver. So losing her was a big shock to Emily. I loved seeing her grow throughout the book. It was great seeing that each task made her stronger inside. It was really refreshing and I have to say she was amazing. Frank was an interesting character. He was a prime example on not to judge a book from its cover. Everyone called him a boy scout. He went to Princeton seminars and protested a lot of things. He was always helping others out. But he wasn't just that. He loves weird bands and comedy shows. There was a lot more to him than what the others just saw. I liked that he helped out Emily with he list. He was great support but he didn't take over like Sloane did. He was different which was great for Emily. Collins is Frank's best friend and soon becomes friends with Emily too. He wasn't a major character but he said some things that really struck with me. He wasn't the most important character but he wasn't useless. He was pretty funny at times and I enjoyed all the scenes he was in. Dawn was cute too. She was great in building up Emily's confidence and helping her out check stuff off the list. I would have liked to have seen more of her spending time with Emily though. All the characters were great and interesting.

The plot was great. It was never boring and kept me interested from beginning to end. It wasn't cliche at all either which was great. I also liked how it had some real life lessons in there that the readers can learn from. I'm a little bit in a reading slump again and this was a great book to pull me out of it. I hope to read more books like this in the future.

Overall, I really loved this book. I couldn't get enough of it. The characters and plot were great. There were a few things that I felt were unresolved. It would have been better if they were but oh well. I was really satisfied with the book otherwise. I also love how there was a little bit of romance int he book but it wasn't part of the main story line. I was really satisfied with this book. I highly recommend this book to those who love coming of age stories or are shy like Emily.

The Devil is a Part-Timer volume 2 by Akio Hiiragi and Satoshi Wagahara

                        About:

In the Sasazuka neighborhood of the Shibuya district of Tokyo, newly minted part-time burger-flipper and former Devil King Satan (now known as Sadao Maou) clashes with Lucifer, a fallen angel who used to serve him! But how will the onetime king deal with his rival now that his magic power's run dry? Now that the devil is one of us, he's going to have to get creative!

My Review:

This volume was a lot like the anime. So, there wasn't much different and very little surprises. If you haven't seen the anime though I think you would find this volume interesting. I didn't dislike this volume at all. I loved seeing the character's thoughts and actions. I couldn't really see their thoughts in the anime. I hope the next couple volumes just keep getting better.

In this volume, both Sadao and Emi are betrayed by their allies and they have to join forces to defeat them. Sadao also finds a way to regain some of his former powers and gains a chance to return back to his home world. Also this chance to fight together might end up ceasing their distrust of each other.

Sadao is still such a dumb-a$$ in this volume. I mean he's so cheeky and confident. He could also be such an idiot at times. But there are times where he seem's really caring and he doesn't even realize that about himself. I really like that about himself. I love his character a lot and hope he doesn't change too much throughout the series. I might want him to mature a bit though. Emi is still her prideful self not letting her get close to the devil king and forever vowing to stay near him until he gives up on going back to their world. She's also very stubborn and loves to yell at Sadao a lot. I like her a lot. She's funny but is a good addition to the group. She's smart, sharp, and is nice. Despite her faults she's an awesome character. I especially love how she interacts with Sadao. Ashiya is the awesome sidekick to Sadao. He's not the strongest or sharpest character but he's really good support in and out of battle. Ashiya was really comical in this volume. I love how he scolded Sadao in the middle of a battle. It was cute. Ashiya is no where near my favorite character but this series wouldn't be the same without him. I was so excited to see Lucifer in this volume. He was one of my favorites in the anime and he was as awesome in the manga as well as he was in the anime. I can't wait to see more of him in the next set of volumes. Chiho wasn't in this volume as much but she was still as cute as ever. I love her character so much and her crush on Sadao makes her so adorable. I just want to give her a hug.

The plot is as good as the anime. There wasn't much different. I hope the manga brings on some new stuff to the plate otherwise it could get a little underwhelming. I bet it will though. The art is still great. I think I liked seeing it animated better but otherwise this was great. I loved Sadao's devil form. I thought he looked so cool. Not very scary but I'd take cool over scary any day.

Overall, I enjoyed this volume a lot. I mean it was still so funny and my favorite character finally showed up to play. The characters were great and I love the little gags thrown in there. I mean Emi will never learn with those stairs. I highly recommend this manga if you love magic, comedy, and action. If you're a little iffy on that stuff then you should pass. If you don;r like reading manga at all then you should definitely watch the anime. It's really good. I reviewed it here on my blog if you haven't seen it.

I liked this book a lot when reading it. It ended up being a lot better than I thought it would be. I even re-read it a couple times. I haven't read the second book yet so I hope it's just as good as the first. This book is for lovers of action, slight mystery, suspense and romance. This is a good end of summer read.

Dawn of the Arcana volume 1 by Rei Toma

                      About:

Princess Nakaba of Senan is forced to marry Prince Caesar of the enemy country Belquat, tantamount to becoming a hostage. While Caesar is pleasing to the eye, he is also selfish and possessive, telling Nakaba outright: "You are my property." With only her attendant Loki at her side, Nakaba must find a way to cope with her hostile surroundings, her fake marriage...and a mysterious power!

My Review:

I wasn't sure I wanted to read this manga. I mean it is right up my alley in plot but I was just afraid of wasting my money. Luckily a friend of mine owned a copy so I just borrowed it from her. I ended up loving this volume. It was very interesting. It was half what I was expecting and the other was full of surprises to what I thought was going on. I'm really glad I was able to read this volume.

In this volume, Princess Nakaba is married to Prince Caesar as part of a shaky treaty that no one expects to lasts. She is expecting to be killed sometimes soon because she's from the enemy country and her red hair. Only those with black hair are noble. Along with her attendant, Loki, she's trying to find her place in her new home, trying to deal with Caesar, and slowly discovering her new ability.

I kind of liked Princess Nakaba. I mean she seemed like a strong person. Despite going through the things she has and being in a place where everyone hates her, she still acts confident and doesn't shrink back. I still don't know too much about her since I only read one volume but I like what I have seen so far. Prince Caesar was interesting. At first he seemed like such a jerk. I mean I hated him so much for how he treated Nakaba but then I saw a bit of his childhood which made me understand why he acts the way he does. It doesn't excuse his actions at all but it helps to know why. I'm curious on how he will change throughout the series, if he ever does. Loki is probably the most mysterious of the three. I mean I find him so intriguing. He obviously cares for Nakaba but I wonder if he has other motives which involve her. Nothing creepy, but he may know a thing or two about her that she doesn't even know herself. So far, I like all the characters and can't wait to see more of them in the future.

The plot is very interesting. You have a princess given to an enemy country to force a peace treaty that in the past has never ended well and not only is she struggling with everything she has a new power to deal with. It makes me wonder if she will end up trying to bring the two countries together or destroy them both. Or maybe she will just leave. I'm really curious on what the overall plot is. There was some good build up here. The art was good. I liked the cover a lot and I love Princess Nakaba's hair. I also loved how Loki's kind looked. I thought it was cute and interesting.

Overall, I throughly enjoyed this manga. I already downloaded the next volume on my phone and am excited to get a jump on it. I hope the next volume is better than this one. I highly recommend this manga to lovers of fantasy, action, drama, and romance. If you're still unsure then I say give it a chance anyway because it could surprise you like it did me.

Olympos omnibus by Aki

                     About:

From on high, the gods make sport of the mortals who toil below them. None know the cruelty of these beings better than Ganymede, a beautiful prince who was torn away from his family by the gods' divine hands. Granted immortality, Ganymede now whiles away his days in an inescapable miniature garden for the amusement of the gods, particularly Apollo. But the gods themselves are no strangers to the boredom of eternal life, and as Ganymede quickly discovers, they will do anything to keep themselves entertained, both at his expense and at one another's...

My Review:

This manga was not what I expected at all. I have always loved stories of the Greek gods and have read many books involving them. I have mixed feelings about this manga. I liked it but I didn't. You know those movies that are really good but make your brain hurt from thinking. Oblivion with Tom Cruise and Interstellar are a couple examples, anyway, this manga was like that but in book form. So, unless you love to think and am prepared to do a lot of it then you should stay away. There were so many lines I had to re-read before I understood them. I do have to say that this manga gave me a lot to think about.

This manga is about Ganymede and his relationship with the gods. He was kidnapped by Apollo and has been stuck in Zeus's garden ever since. Apollo is also trying to understand the gods' relationships. It's basically looking into the gods' emotions.

Ganymede was a very...depressed character. I don't think he was fully depressed but I can't think of a better word. He isn't full of light and positive thinking. He just ceased to care. He is a very interesting character to get to know but I find Apollo much more interesting. He isn't satisfied with his life as a god. He is constantly debating with Hades and poking fun at Ganymede. He is bored which forces him to hang out with Poseidon who is an idiot. Apollo no longer is satisfied with hanging out with his sister Artemis. I think Apollo is a selfish character but I can't help but like him and feel bad for him. Hades was my favorite. He constantly amazed me with his way of thinking and his riddles. He's a huge part of the reason that my brain hurt after reading Olympos. Hades brought up many interesting points that could be heavily debated. Every character has their interesting aspects. I can't say any of them are great people but they weren't bad either.

The plot was really confusing at first and I'm still not completely sure I figured it out. I can't say the plot was complicated or not because I really don't know. I have no clue. The art is gorgeous. I can freely say that I mostly read this manga for the art. It is so beautiful and pretty. I can't get enough of it at all. I love the character and costume designs. They are so pretty looking. If you're looking to one solid pro to reading this manga then the art is one of them.

Overall, this manga was okay. It's not for everyone. I've read that you shouldn't start with Olympos if you're reading work by Aki for the first time which I did so if you read Aki's work and liked it, you would probably like Olympos. I don't regret picking Olympos up. It had its ups and downs for me. I think I might read more of Aki's work in the future.

Dengeki Daisy volume 3 by Kyousuke Motomi

                           About:

After orphan Teru Kurebayashi loses her beloved brother, she finds solace in the messages she exchanges with DAISY, an enigmatic figure who can only be reached through the cell phone her brother left her. Meanwhile, mysterious Tasuku Kurosaki always seems to be around whenever Teru needs help. Could DAISY be a lot closer than Teru thinks?

Teru decides to move out of Kurosaki's apartment, but she wonders if Kurosaki is actually relieved that she's leaving. As she settles in at her new place, trouble comes knocking when an old business acquaintance of her brother's appears...

My Review:

I liked this volume a lot more than the previous one. It was a lot more interesting than the other two volumes. This series gets more intriguing with each volume. I hope this fashion continues until the end of the series. It would be disappointing if there was a huge build up and then nothing. I hate when that happens. It is really annoying. I mean you put all that time and emotion into it and then poof, it just lets go and you end up frustrated. Anyway, I'm glad that in this volume the plot got better and the characters revealed some interesting things.

In this volume, Teru moves out of Kurosaki's apartment and moves in with Riko. Both Teru and Kurosaki have mixed feelings about it. Also Teru goes to the beach with a few friends and a huge storm ends up heading their way. Teru also learns something important that can change everything.

Teru seemed very mature in this volume. Yeah still still fought with Kurosaki childishly but she showed her strength when a certain someone tried to trick her for her brother's program. I liked that a lot. I don't want her to be too mature because she's still a teenager but I don't want her to act like a little kid either. I loved that she had a balance and I hope she will continue to have this balance throughout the series. Kurosaki seemed to be less of a jerk in this volume. I mean he was normal but I liked learning why he was being a jerk and it wasn't just because he was trying to push her away. I liked that I got to learn a lot more about why Kurosaki does what he does in this volume. Riko is as amazing as always. I still don't know what her role is but I just love her personality. She puts Kurosaki in his place when he needs to be. I also like how sassy she is. She's a great addition to this manga. I can't wait to learn what her role is in this story. Masuda made another appearance in this volume. I find him quite interesting even though he only shows up once in a blue moon. He seems like a great friend to Kurosaki though. He's always giving him advice about DAISY and such.

The plot grew thicker in this volume. A lot thicker. I'm surprised that the author pulled out this card so soon. It makes me curious on what Motomi has in mind for Teru and Kurosaki. The plot has definitely gotten a lot more interesting but it worries me a little on what will happen next. The art was as good as always. There were some pages I didn't love but it didn't ruin anything. I have no other complaints and can't wait to see more in the future.

Overall, I really liked this volume. It left me wanting more and I plan on purchasing the next volume soon. The plot does worry me a bit but I bet my worries will be unfounded. The series has been great so far. I still highly recommend this series to those who haven't started it yet and if you have but haven't gotten to read this volume then you definitely should. You're missing out on something great.

This movie is really great. It's on sale for really cheap so if you're a huge fan of Matt Damon then you should grab a copy. It's full of action, romance, choice, and the will to take control of your own destiny. It has its slow moments, I won't lie but it is easily overlooked. This is the perfect movie for date night or a movie night with friends.

Ubel Blatt volume 1 by Etorouji Shiono

                       About:

After twenty long years in the dark, the time has come for a confrontation with Glenn, one of the seven heroes!

Hatred...envy...confusion...Koinzell's heart overflows with emotion as he moves singularly toward his revenge, blade in hand! But it only takes an instant for the situation to take an unexpected turn...

My Review:

I like this series but I don't know how I overly feel about it. Oh there is a prequel called volume 0 so if this series seems remotely interesting to you then you have to read it or you will be really confused. This series also isn't for those who aren't mature. There's violence, nudity, sex, and a few other things. Ubel Blatt a very dark series so if you love light sweet manga then this is so not what you want to read.

In this volume, Koinzell is finally ready to get his revenge for what he seven heroes did to him, but things don't go as planned. He soon becomes lost and stumbles around while getting caught up in a nobleman's scheme of kidnapping girls.

Koinzell is by no means a hero but he isn't evil either. I can't help but feel for his character. I mean I know his major goal is to get revenge and kill the seven heroes, but I can't help but cheer for him. I want him to get his revenge. It feels weird not cheering for the hero of the story  but I guess in this case there is no hero at all. I don't really know how to describe Koinzell because he's always just fighting or full of anger. I don't know much of his personality but to me I guess he seems like a shell of a person. He seems like he's just going through the motions in life. Like his only purpose is to kill the seven heroes. It makes me wonder what will happen to him once he succeeds in his goal. Peepi is cute and is really nice. I didn't get to see much of her character but I like her a lot. I hope to see a bigger role for her or at least see a happy ending for her because something tells me that this series won't have many happy endings. Ato is interesting. At first she tried to kill Koinzell for killing her brother but now it's something different. I like how strong and fearless she is. Even though she knows she could lose, she tries anyway. Altea is definitely an interesting character. She acts tough though truthfully she is really weak. I like her character for it. I mean we never truly see a weak character.I like the characters a lot but it's really hard to connect with them at all. They all are really messed up.

The plot is very interesting. Yeah, it's another plot of revenge but it has such a huge twist that makes this manga unique. It brings you into a whole world full of magic, creatures, and a bunch other things. The art is okay. I like it but it doesn't wow me or anything. I do have to give a thumbs up though to how graphic it is. It's well done. I mean very well done. It also isn't too much either where you lose interest.

Overall, I really do like this series. It doesn't impress me a lot but I can't stop reading it. It like has a pull on me. I'm excited to see what happens to Koinzell in the future and to see if anyone will ever believe him. If you don't like graphic violence or sex scene then you should really steer clear of this manga but if you don't mind them and love plots full of revenge then you should pick up a copy. Don't forget to pick up the prequel first though.

Karneval (TV)

                        About:

Nai saerches for someone important to him, with only an abandoned bracelet as a clue. Gareki steals and pick-pockets to get by from day to day. The two meet in a strange mansion where they are set-up, and soon become wanted criminals by military security operatives. When Nai and Gareki find themselves desperate in a hopeless predicament, they encounter none other than the country's most powerful defense organization "Circus"!!

My Review:

I didn't really expect much from this show at all but I decided to take a chance on it anyway. Funny thing is that I ended up loving this show so much. It's now one of my favorites. I will definitely be re-watching it in the future. I wish there was another season but it looks like I might just have to settle with the manga. This show is filled with action, mystery, suspense, friendship, and monsters. No romance in sight for those of you who hate it or tired of it. Anyway this anime will blow you away.

Karneval is about a boy named Nai who is not what he seems and is full of mystery. He's searching for a friend of his with only a bracelet for a clue and bumps into Gareki who is a theif. They go on the run and end up in the hands of Circus. Circus decides to help out Nai for their own gain. Nai and Gareki make friends along the way while helping Circus try to stop an evil organization whom is creating creatures that feed off humans.

Nai is the cutest sweetest person ever. All I want to do is hug and cuddle with him. I loved his character so much. He wasn't the typical nice naive character. He's absolutely amazing. Nai is definitely my favorite character of this show and one of my favorites of all time. Thank you Tumblr for allowing me to find out about this adorable person. Gareki was a fun character and another favorite on my list. He is Nai's savior and friend. He also has a sour attitude except when it came to Nai. I liked Gareki a lot. He wasn't the strongest but he had a great sense of moral. I loved his character development throughout the series. The other characters didn't really develop as much so I guess this made him stand out. I think a lot of people will love Gareki's character. Yogi is definitely up there with Nai and on my overall favorite characters list. He is so cute and funny. I absolutely love his personality. He loves kids and cute things. I just want to hug and squish him along with Nai. I couldn't get enough f him at all. I'm thinking of searching for him in fanfiction. I love him that much. Tsukumo was an interesting character. She's the more serious of the bunch. I liked her a lot but not as much as the others. Hirato was also a mysterious character. I would have love to have learned more about him. There were times where I didn't like him, I didn't know how to feel about him, and then by the end I'm still confused on how I feel about his character. I think I ended up liking his character a little. All the characters were amazing and interesting.

The plot is pretty interesting. It is definitely not a cliche. I was interested from the get go and I was never bored at all. The plot is engaging and action packed. The art is absolutely amazing as well. It is so bright and colorful in such a tasteful way. It's not overdone or looking girly at all. I love the character designs so much. They all look so cute and beautiful. The animation is so smooth and great too.

Overall, I have to say that this is one of the greatest shows ever. I highly recommend it and will keep on recommending it forever. I loved the characters and the plot and oh the art is amazing too. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this anime at all except the fact that there isn't another season. If they don'e make another season I hope to find something as good as this.

Spotlight Monday: Demon Love Spell by Mayu Shinjo

                          About:

Miko is a shrine maiden who has never had much success at seeing or banishing spirits. Then she meets Kagura, a sexy demon who feeds off women's feelings of passion and love. Kagura's insatiable appetite has left many girls at school brokenhearted, so Miko casts a spell to seal his powers. Surprisingly the spell works--sort of--but now Kagura is after her!

I loved this series so much. It's so funny and just so great. You will fall in love with Kagura. I recommend this to lovers of Black Bird. It's also a short series, only six volumes, so if you're looking for something light and sweet then this is the series for you.
