Listen to Me, Girls. I Am Your Father!

                      About:

Segawa Yuta is a freshman of a university. He lost his parents when he was small and was raised by his sister Yuri. Yuta has been living alone since Yuri got married to a middle aged man when Yuta was a junior high student.

One day, Yuri visited Yuta's apartment and asked him to take care of her three daughters while Yuri and her husband were on a trip. He unwillingly accepted the job but the plane Yuri took went missing. In order to prevent the daughters from being adopted separately by relatives, Yuta decided to take in all three girls.

A life of a strange family in a tiny apartment begins.

My Review:

I have to say this is one of the most heart warming animes you will ever see. It is so cute, sad, loving, and hilarious. I love this anime so much. Guys, even you will like it. Yeah, it's not action packed with violence, but it will touch you in some way shape or form. I lost count on how many times this anime pulled at my heart strings. The characters were all great and I love the voice actors that were chosen as well. This anime is a slice of life comedy you don't want to miss. It is also labeled as a romance but it isn't really. I mean there are definitely crushes and maybe a tiny something extra but it barely takes a hold in the plot. I even forgot it was labeled a romance until I went on myanimelist.

This show is about college student Yuuta who volunteers to take care of his sister's three children after she and her husband disappear in a plane crash. Not wanting his nieces to split up, he takes them home to his apartment and starts his journey of trying to raise them. He's not alone though, his friends from the Sight Seeing Club are there to help, along with neighbors, and a few others just around the corner to help out.

Yuuta is way in over his head when he decided to take in the girls, but he didn't want them to split up like his sister fought for them not to split up when their own parents died. I liked Yuuta a lot. He was really nice and did his best to raise them no matter how difficult it was. I also liked that he messed up a lot. Don't get me wrong, I was rooting for him the whole time, it's just, I liked that his mistakes portrayed a real life single parent and how hard it really is to be one. Raika is a friend of Yuuta's from the Sight Seeing Club and the girl he has a huge crush on. She's a very weird character. I truthfully didn't like her character at first because I just thought it was stupid nonsense, but it turns out she was kind of needed. I soon liked seeing her with the girls and with Yuuta. I liked the thought of them together. They would make a really weird family but it would be nice. Sora is the oldest of the three girls. She's the most sensitive and is really really shy. She was really mature as well though. She quickly did her best to try and help out around the house and took care of her other sisters. I admire her for that. Many people couldn't handle the pressure. I truthfully don't know if I could do that if I had to. Luckily, I have a bunch of older brothers, so I probably don't have to find out. Miu is the middle child and is one of my favorite characters. She's so funny and full of mischief. She loves to tease Sora and Yuuta which was great. Her character really brightened the mood at times. The youngest is Hina. She is the most adorable character I have ever seen! I loved her so much. She's just so cute and full of life. I couldn't get enough of her character. I kind of wish she was real so I could cuddle with her. She's that adorable. She kind of makes me want to have a daughter. Way in the future though. Way way way into the future. Nimura is Yuuta's best friend and kind of like a second guardian to the girls. He's constantly around to help them out and Yuuta a lot. He does his best to cheer them up and everything. I liked his character a lot as well. I liked all the characters...well except for Sako. I understand he was put in the anime for laughs but I felt he kind of ruined the whole experience. He was just such a creepy character and just really weird, not in a good way. Again, I understand he's supposed to be like that but it wasn't needed at all.

The plot is really good. It touches the subjects of loss, sadness, responsibility, family, and bonding. It didn't just show how hard it was for Yuuta. It showed how hard it was for everyone when Yuuta's sister passed. The art was pretty good. I thought the girls were all adorable and nicely done. Especially, Hina. She was so cute! I loved the way she looked. Miu was adorable as well. All the girls in this show were nicely drawn. I kind of didn't like Yuuta's hair but otherwise, I have no complaints on the art at all.

Overall, I am so glad I stumbled across this anime. It is something you really don't want to miss. This anime will pull at your heart strings, make you smile, and laugh. I highly recommend it to people of all age, whether you're my age or an adult. I plan on finding the manga version or read the light novel series. It was that good. The ending was even heart whelming as well. It was the perfect way to end the anime.

Love Monster by Riko Miyagi

                   About:

After failing the entrance exams to her school of choice, Hiyo Osora gets an acceptance letter from SM Academy. But she didn't even apply or take its exam! When she arrives, there's something amiss—all the students are... monsters!? And the head of the student council says he's her fiancĂ© right before he sprouts giant black wings! What strange fate brought Osora to SM Academy, and what supernatural fate awaits her after this!?

My Review:

I found this randomly on the manga app ZingBox. I thought it sounded pretty cute so I downloaded it and sunk my teeth into it. I kinda like this series. It's short I read it over the course of two days but that didn't hinder it. I think it would have sucked if it continued. Unless you love cute characters and plots like these then you shouldn't bother with it. I mean it's a good plot but it's very light and the characters are pretty goofy. I don't think I wasted my time reading it because I enjoyed it.

In this series Hiyo fails all her entrance exams and ends up going to a school where you only get in by recommendation. There the student president, Kurou declares that she's his fiance! She learns quickly that the school she entered is a school for monsters. She also finds out that she might not be human and everyone is after her special abilities!

Hiyo is the typical very cute, very innocent, and very naive character. She's also very airy and childish which I kind of don't like. You can be kickass and still be good and have a pure heart. I really feel like this character is really overplayed. She also was the damsel in distress never being able to protect herself which also was kind of annoying. I don't hate her character, I just wish that there were some things different about her. Kurou is very tough and powerful. He's the strongest monster in the school which is why he's student president for being a freshman. He's also the typical pervert but only with Hiyo. I didn't mind his character too much. I actually loved him a lot. Though I feel like he would have been a better character without his pervert side. They had him as a calm and cool character which doesn't really go well with him being a pervert. I liked them a lot together because it played well with Hiyo being day and Kurou being night. It was a nice idea. I loved learning about their past together and I wish there were more scenes of that because they were so cute and fun to read. Shou is Hiyo's dad and a very mysterious character. I would have liked to learn a lot more about him. He wasn't in the series much but when he was, he made an impact. I found his past to be a little confusing because the author only showed tidbits of it. I get the gist of his past but I think more time should have been spent on his character. Hitomi is also a mysterious powerful being but was a goofball who acted like a kid. I didn't learn about her past at all which I didn't like. I guess it wouldn't be necessary for the story but I felt like she was just there. Yeah she had some important lines but there didn't need to be a whole new character for it. Haine is Kurou's love rival. He's a crow demon like Kurou, but instead of typical black wings, his are grey which makes him pretty interesting. I really liked his character a lot. I would have loved to have seen more of him then the few times he appeared. I also would have liked a love interest for him. He's my second favorite character. Maki was a weird character. At first she hated Hiyo and wanted to take Kurou from her but somehow she randomly became best friends with her. I didn't really like her character much and didn't see a use for her. I mean I just didn't see the point. All the characters here were comical in some way which I felt watered down their character and personalities so much. I mean it's okay to have comical scenes and some goofy characters, but when all of them are like that, it's hard to have a heavy plot and to take the manga seriously.

The plot was good. I felt that it could have been carried out a lot better though. The characters were so light and not serious that I felt it took away from the plot. I mean it's a really good story line but it never got deep enough to bring out its full awesomeness. The art was good. I thought the characters were all very cute and well drawn. I just didn't like how most of them looked like little kids when they were in high school. Especially Hiyo. She looks like she's in the beginning of middle school and it was actually commented a lot in the manga. I know it was on purpose but it just looked really weird to me.

Overall, this manga series was okay. It could have been so much better. I mean if you want to read something light and you love cliches then go for it. However, if you dislike cliches and are looking for a deep plot then you won't find it here. I did love the ending however, and would read something else by Riko in the future.

My Review:

You all saw my reviews of the anime and how I thought it could have been so much better. I decided a little while ago to read the manga because I heard it was better than the anime. I'm so glad I did. It is so much better. It's still funny and comical but in a totally tasteful way. I would have wrote a review for the first two volumes but it was during regents week and I got too busy to write a review and by the time I got to it thew feelings weren't fresh but at least I was able to post this one. So for those of you who didn't like the anime but liked the idea of it, then you should definitely read the manga. I liked this volume a lot. It was so interesting and very funny. I was disappointed when it ended. I have to buy the next volume.

In this volume, the Enforcers retaliate after Moka beats up one of them by trying to reveal that Tsukune is a human. Moka gives blood to Tsukune which gives surprising results. Also Tsukune gets targeted by the math teacher and becomes trapped by her making Moka the hero again.

Tsukune is still really nice and calm. He liked hanging out with Moka except for when she sucks his blood. I wish there was a little something more about him though. I know he's supposed to make him the everyday teenager, I just wish he was a little less average. We never get to see what he likes to do or much of his personality other than he's really nice and has a strong sense of loyalty and friendship. Those are big important parts of his personality, I just...want something more? I don't know how to explain it. Moka is still such a cutie. I find her so adorable. I can't get enough of her. She's such a sweetheart but has her kickass vampire side which is so cool and awesome. She's my favorite character. SHe's like so innocent as well. She also has the right amount of insecurity. I mean she's insecure enough which makes her feel like a teenager but not too much where you find her personality so annoying. I like them a lot for each other. I think they would be so cute together but I don't feel like I have to ship them, if that makes any sense. Like my love for them isn't strong? I want them to be together but I don't feel the attraction between them yet. Gin stepped up as a character. He wasn't just his normal perverted self. He really stepped up when he fought for his club and friends. He didn't even make Tsukune reveal his true identity. I liked that a lot. He even seemed cool. I would like to see more of that side to him in the future. Kurumu was great support for Tsukune in this volume. She's the one to convince Gin to help. She also was pretty funny when she fought with Yukari. Yukari didn't play much of a role in this volume other than to fight with Kurumu. All the characters were great in this volume.

The plot wasn't bad. It spiced things up for the different monsters each chapter. I like the overall plot of a human entering a monsters only high school. It's pretty intersting. I wish it was a little more serious though. The art is okay. I absolutely love the cover. It looks so cool with Moka's vampire form. I love how Moka's vampire form is drawn. I'm not a big fan of Tsukune. His face is a little too round for me. Their eyes though are great. I like how they look.

Overall, I really liked this volume. It's much better than the first two. It was still funny but had more serious moments which I liked very much. The ending wasn't bad as well. If you love comedy and the thought of a human going to an all monster school then you should definitely check this out. I recommend it. I'm excited to read the next volume.

Dengeki Daisy volume 2 by Kyousuke Motomi

                 About:

After orphan Teru Kurebayashi loses her beloved brother, she finds solace in the messages she exchanges with DAISY, and enigmatic figure who can only be reached through the cell phone her brother left her. Meanwhile, mysterious Tasuku Kurosaki always seems to be around whenever Teru needs help. Could DAISY be a lot closer than Teru thinks?

My Review:

It took me forever to find this volume because every store I went to had volumes 1 then every single volume after 2. It drove me insane. Thank goodness I found this volume at AnimeNext. I like this manga a lot. It's a really nice concept of having someone mysterious always be there for you. Just a text away. It's also different from the cliche romance. Yes, there's the generic falling for someone without meeting them without realizing that they're a friend or something, but it does it in such a different way. We learn early on who it is but the main character still doesn't know which is cool.

In this volume, Teru ends up having to stay at Kurosaki's apartment while Daisy looks for an apartment for her. Meanwhile the school gets a new counselor who knows Kurisaki. Also someone is trying to find out everything they can about Daisy. They will do anything, even use someone close to Teru to get that information.

Teru is so nice but not too nice. She cares about people but isn't annoyingly goody goody about it. I like how strong she is and how accepting she is. I feel like it makes her character unique. She's not going blindly about things like most characters I've seen in the same situation. She's not the naive sweet cliche character. So it's a nice change of pace. Kurosaki is the old cliche of being a jerk to the girl he likes so she doesn't realize it. I love this cliche though, if it's done right. I saw this anime where the guy was such a huge jerk that I hated his character and ship the girl with someone else. Kurosaki was done right. I love his character a lot. I love seeing his thoughts of Teru. He's so sweet and kind. Too bad the past with Teru's brother is holding him back which upsets me so much but at the same time I'm kind of glad. I don't want them to get together too early, especially since the whole series is sixteen volumes. I ship them so hard. Riko is an interesting new addition. I was very unsure of her because of the description of her in the summary, but I lik her character. So far she's protected Teru and gives Kurosaki a good a$$ kicking when he needs one which is great. I'm not happy with all of her actions though(jerk trying to tear apart my ship) but she might me a good addition. We'll see in the next volume. Masuda is an interesting character. I like how he teases Kurosaki about his relationship with Teru and how he tries to help him out. I'm excited to learn more about him in the future volumes.

The plot again, is a tiny bit cliche but it's done so well that it isn't boring or annoying. I love the mystery surrounding Teru's brother and how this manga isn't a typical romance. There's hint of action and also it's pretty funny but not overly comical where it takes away from the story. It's just enough to make you chuckle and go "Oh Teru..." The art is a little eh for my taste but I absolutely love how Kurosaki is drawn. He looks so handsome and tough at the same time. He also looks like his typical grumpy character too. Also he's not done over too much where he looks like a thug or bad boy. I think Teru looks pretty adorable as well.

Overall, This volume was pretty good. Not to stuffy of drama where it made you not want to read. It was pretty entertaining. The tiny cliffhanger at the end about Kurosaki's feelings was great. It drove me crazy. I can't wait to read the next volume. Good thing I bought it as well. I highly recommend this for people who like this cliche but hoping for something different as well. If you love Beast Master, this is the author of it so you should check it out. Romance and drama lovers should pick this up.

Hana-Kimi volume 10-12 by Hisaya Nakajo

                    About:

                    Family Matters
Mizuki has started modeling for the famous photographer Akiha Hara, but is he on to the fact that she's a girl? Later, Mizuki travels home to America only to find Sano and Nakatsu are there too! Sano seems to be getting along with her dad, but can Mizuki get through this visit without her family revealing her secret?!

My Review:

I love this series so much. I'm always worried that something will happen and then I'll start to dislike it. So far though, that has not happened. Thank goodness. This volume was just as great as the previous ones. It's so funny, full of terrible situations for Mizuki and Sano's sanity. I couldn't get enough of this volume. I read it in one sitting. Thank goodness I already bought the next 3 in 1 set. It's taking all my will power not to read the next volumes before I finish my review. The romance is slightly more heavy in this volume. I got my wish of wanting to know more of what Sano thinks of Mizuki. So, if you were curious if you should keep going for that reason, now you have your answer. This set was also a little more dramatic. Not so full of drama where you could choke on it, but a little more heavy than usual and just more dramatic silliness.

In this set of volumes, Mizuki decides she wants to model for Akiha which forces Sano to do so as well, considering he doesn't was Mizuki caught up in Akiha's games. Then there is this special Christmas ball where Mizuki's school and the sister school have a very fancy dance and since there aren't enough girls at the sister school Mizuki gets roped into dressing like a girl...again! We also get a cute scene between her and Sano. Finally, Mizuki goes home to see her family where she runs into San and Nakatsu who are there on some sports trip. Oh, and Gil makes and appearance so tension soars between him and Sano. Like I said, there is slightly more drama and dramatics.

Mizuki is still such an innocent sweetheart in this manga. She's there for the people who need her and is so full of support. She's also quite clueless. Poor Sano. Must be so hard for him. Anyway, I liked meeting her family and seeing her with them. She has the perfect blend of both her parents. Sano was amazing in this manga. I loved seeing his thoughts. For so long we were left in the dark but now it's all out in the open. Well sort of. Mizuki still has no clue. I want them together so badly. I ship them so hard. But, I'm glad they're not together yet. Most manga and anime I've seen the main characters fall in love quickly and then admit it quickly. We never get to witness the journey of them falling in love and coming to terms with it. It's what I love most about this series. We get to see them have their crushes and fall. So I ship them but let it be a nice long and sweet journey. But not too long. I want them to get together and to see them be together. Gilbert was very interesting. We only saw him for a couple chapter but I felt the need to talk about him. I didn't get a huge feel of his character but I do know that he ain't happy about Mizuki being with Sano. Truthfully, I would want him with Mizuki if the story was about her past with him and that this whole moving to Japan thing never happened. I know a completely different story but it does seem like a great plot. I came up with my own story for Gilber and Mizuki. Sano and the others don't exist in it. I just really like the setup for it. I'm on Sano side though for this manga. If it was a different story I'd probably ship Mizuki with Gil but not here. Akiha was stll his very flirty childish self but we get to learn a little of his past which I thought was interesting. I also loved the harassment he gives Umeda. Speaking of Dr. Umeda, we got to see his parents! They were so weird and cute just like the rest of his family. I loved it! Umeda is still my favorite character of all time. He's so sarcastic and grumpy. I love it! I didn't get to see as much of him in this set but it was made up with meeting his family so I'm not too upset.

The plot is still great. I love the situations that Mizuki was forced into. They were hilarious and not overdone. I'm starting to wonder though what would happen if Sano confesses he know or someone else finds out and reveals it. I mean I have a feeling that Mizuki won't make it to graduation. It's not a spoiler or anything. Just my thoughts I mean it would be too dull if she made it to graduation without anyone knowing right? So, I'm just wondering what's going to happen. The art was as good as always. The cover was a little confusing though. From the heart shaped chocolate I though there was going to be a Valentine chapter or something. Not Christmas. I loved the dresses for the Christmas Ball. I thought they were so cute and pretty. I loved seeing Mizuki in one. I'm so glad she wasn't a guy in those chapters.

Overall, I loved reading this set of volumes. It was so much fun and full of action. I was never bored or sick of the gags. I also absolutely loved the cliffhanger at the end of volume 12. It is currently driving me insane. I also squealed a lot while reading this because of Sano. Good thing I was alone while reading this. I highly recommend you go buy this volume now if you haven't already and if you haven't even started reading the series yet the get a move on! You don't want to miss this. I so can't wait to read the next volume and see what Sano does with his new information.
